Preview
Everton welcomes Liverpool at the Goodison Park for yet another edition of the Merseyside derby. The timing of the duel could not have been worse for the home team. The Toffees have a paltry two points out of the last seven fixtures. The mixed results, notwithstanding, there is not much pressure bombarding the new coach, Rafael Benítez, who has been in charge for just 13 games.
Everton are 14th in the log, only six points above the drop zone. It does not help that their star striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, has spent more time in the treatment room this season than on the pitch. Good news is that you can watch all the action on Amazon Prime Video.
While Everton is stumbling, the same cannot be said about Liverpool, experiencing an extended fine form. The Reds are scoring goals east, right, south, left, and center. Their firing power of Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, and Sadio Mané shows a redefined sharpness in recent matches and might get even better with the return of Roberto Firmino.
A win for the Reds will consolidate their place in the top three and firm up their contention for the Premiership trophy. Besides, three points in the coming game is a vital cushion before the team is depleted as Salah, Mané, and Naby Keïta head to AFCON.
Expected Lineup
Jordan Pickford is likely to start for Everton, shielded by Séamus Coleman, Michael Keane, Ben Godfrey, and Lucas Digne. The Toffees’ midfield will likely feature Andros Townsend, Allan Marques, and Abdoulaye Doucouré, whereas Alex Iwobi, Demerai Gray, and Richarlison will be in charge of the flanks and firepower.
For Liverpool, the squad that faced Southampton is about intact. However, a derby calls for a unique approach, which may push Jürgen Klopp to make a few adjustments. Keïta, Firmino, Joe Gomez, and Curtis Jones are still out with injuries. However, Joël Matip is fit again, meaning that Klopp has to contend between fielding him or Ibrahima Konaté.
That said, Alisson Becker is fit to start in the post. He will depend on Trent Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Virgil Van Dijk, and Andrew Robertson to provide the necessary shield. Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcântara, and Fabinho will reinforce the midfield, leaving Salah, Jota, and Mané to lead the hunt for goals in front.

Expected Result
Liverpool is enjoying an extensive spell of fantastic form. However, form hardly counts in hotly contested derbies and perennial rivalries, and the Everton vs Liverpool match is a great example. Besides, the Toffees’ recent record against their neighbours at home is encouraging. However, Everton is considerably weakened at the back, and it’s forward, misfiring. It is hardly equipped to grab a point from a clash with Liverpool, who are currently thrashing everything they come across. We predict a 0-2 loss for Everton.
